Qualification Process to Come for Ontario Property Managers - Concierge Plus

Ontario’s Consumer Affairs Minister, Tracy MacCharles, has called into question the qualifications of current property managers in Ontario to run condominiums. She asserts that with 10% of Ontario’s population living in condos, an industry standard for qualifications must be implemented to ensure quality of service.

Neither the current condo boom in Toronto nor the steady growth throughout the rest of Ontario shows any signs of slowing down. It makes sense, then, to have a discussion about quality control and regulations for standardizing the quality of life in large residential complexes. Given the complexity of the Condominium Act and the sheer value of a condo building, most people agree that appropriate business practices out to be applied.

For property managers, standardization can and should be welcomed: deep knowledge of the bylaws and economics of the condo business will lead to better organization of processes within the building, fewer complaints by tenants, and more streamlined processes overall. Dean McCabe, the former president of the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario, also believes this will beneficial for managers.

The province has already given the green light to have the standardization process implemented, and overall, this will make condominiums an even more invaluable staple in our growing urban landscape.
